Acclaimed Academy Award, Golden Globe and Writers Guild Award winning writer Ernest Thompson returns to his roots, the theater. While New York audiences will delight this spring in the Broadway revival of his family classic On Golden Pond, starring James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams, this holiday season Angelenos will be treated to a very different kind of family in his black comedy White People Christmas at the Zephyr Theater in Hollywood.
Thompson’s play takes an unblinking look at the foolishness of bigotry in our self-centered society. An outrageously myopic white family ventures over the fields and through the woods to grandmother’s house to celebrate the quintessential dysfunctional holiday, only to be visited by a jolly man in a red suit, who happens to be black.
