Not just zombies. Flesh-eating zombies. They’re the nemesis of three couples, friends who went to college together, who have reunited for a weekend at a rustic cabin high in the mountains at King City, California., ostensibly to clean out the place after one of their relatives has passed on. But get attractive young people out in the country, in an isolated place, and it’s really an excuse to party down and have sex and take drugs.
Wait a minute. Attractive young people? Sex? Drugs? Out in the country? Uh-oh.
It gets more ominous. One of them ran over a cat on the way to the cabin. She’s read a book on witchcraft, and believes she has the power to bring the cat back from the dead, and she cast spells to prove it. The nearby farm, legend has it, is a repository for the corpses of the murdered but there’s no dissuading her. It’s only a matter of time before Zombies Attack!
Zombies Attack! may elicit more giggles than shivers as it embraces and sends up every possible cliché of the horror genre while accomplishing the neat trick of advancing a viable adventure story. Originally produced in Hollywood in 1989, the show ran for a decade.
