Aurora Theatre Company presents the West Coast Premiere of Betrayed. Filled with humor, dignity, and outrage, this provocative theatrical adaptation (based on journalist George Packer’s eye-opening 2007 essay in The New Yorker magazine) follows three Iraqi translators who risk their lives to aid the American war effort.
Betrayed is the story of a Sunni and a Shia Muslim who build a rare bond as they face the daily dangers of working for the Americans in contemporary Baghdad. Joined by a woman who refuses to submit to Islamic law, the men struggle to be heard by their allies, while all three fight to realize their hopes and dreams for a new world.
