The Chicano/Latino performance trio Culture Clash return to the streets of their birth in the world premiere of Mission Magic Mystical Tour. It’s a sometimes wild gondola ride down old Mission Creek with stops at the upscale Foreign Cinema, past Hunts Donuts on the corner of 20th?where Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, and The Brown Buffalo meet up one summer night in ?67–on out to a hippy houseboat floating rightfield of Pac Bell Park. With characters ranging from lesbian bike messengers to out-of-work mariachis, from day laborers and transgenders to club kids and cops, Culture Clash uses satire, santeria, and social commentary, among the other dazzling tools in their collective repertoire, to pay homage to the most vibrant barrio on the West Coast–San Francisco?s Mission District.
