About the Show

Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s 2006/07 Season pumps up the volume with the world premiere of a wild new musical: Passing Strange is the heartfelt and hilarious story of a young black bohemian who charts a course for “the real” through sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Developed at the Sundance Theatre Lab and premiering on Berkeley Rep’s intimate Thrust Stage, it features the provocative musician known as Stew, a celebrated singer/songwriter who developed a cult following with a band called The Negro Problem. Co-commissioned and co-produced by Berkeley Rep and The Public Theater.
