The Clean House

The Clean House, by Sarah Ruhl, follows a successful doctor whose controlled world falls into chaos when life, and all of its messes, come crashing into her perfect home. Lane is a successful doctor married to a surgeon. She excels at maintaining her ordered existence until her maid Matilde (who prefers telling the perfect joke to cleaning), obsessively tidy sister Virginia, husband, and his patient all challenge what she knows about life and love. Juliette Carrillo directs this story of four women who discover the power of a perfect joke, and along the way learn that life’s beautiful messes should never be washed away.
