About the Show

Twenty-five-year-old Sarah is the latest in a string of secretaries for 81-year-old blue-blood Francis Biddle. Attorney General under President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Chief Judge of the Nuremberg trials, the ailing American icon, burdened with the iconveniences of old age and failing health, has been forced to hire the fresh-faced prairie populist from Saskatchewan to help him complete his memoirs. As the two struggle to find a way to communicate, their mercurial relationship, wrought with paper, tears and iron-will, blossoms into an undying friendship. This richly scripted May-December tale, which had it’s World Premiere at Chicago’s Victory Gardens Theater in 2004 and opened off-Broadway later that same year, is a hopeful and humorous portrait of two strangers at dramatically different places in their lives who unexpectedly influence each other forever.

Trying is written by Joanna McClelland Glass and directed by Jack Fletcher. The cast includes Ken Ruta and Amanda Duarte.
