She’s a vocal powerhouse with “one of the world’s most thrilling voices” (The New York Observer). American soprano Deborah Voigt is one of today’s greatest interpreters of dramatic opera roles by Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner, and also enjoys great acclaim in such popular Italian roles as Tosca, Aida, Leonore in La forza del destino and Amelia in Un ballo in Maschera. Active as a recitalist and singer of Broadway standards, Ms. Voigt has also given master classes and made numerous recordings. This recital marks her Toronto debut.
The varied programme consists of repertoire by the classical masters such as Mozart, Verdi, Strauss, and Respighi; American composers Amy Beach and Leonard Bernstein are also featured.
