ALEXANDER MARKOV FAMILY & FRIENDS CONCERT

About the Show

World-renowned violinists Alexander, Albert and Marina Markov will present a special musical event on Sunday, April 24th at 3:00 pm at the Greenwich Performing Arts Center, Greenwich HS at 10 Hillside Road in Greenwich, CT.

The concert will begin with the Ukrainian National Anthem and a portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Ukraine relief effort.

Albert Markov was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine and moved to Moscow before immigrating to the U.S. in 1979 with his wife Marina and son Alexander, who was then 12 years old. Soon after the family settled in Rowayton, the New York Times accurately called them “A Family That May Change U.S. Violin Playing”. Now celebrated as virtuoso violinists, they have played sold-out shows in international capitals around the globe including New York’s Carnegie Hall.

The April 24th program will include famous classical masterpieces by Vivaldi, Gluck, Sarasate, Schubert, and Prokofiev, as well as Alexander’s signature performance of Paganini Caprices, which have attracted millions of views on YouTube. Shifting from classical to rock music, the show’s “Grand Finale” will feature Alexander performing original rock compositions on a custom-made gold electric violin backed up by a rock band, regional hip-hop sensation “FNX,” a chamber orchestra, and a choir of the area’s talented young singers from The Regional Center of the Arts and the Central Middle School of Greenwich.

International pianist Heike Doerr and her young virtuoso son Ares Economides, bassist Tommy Champion, and drummer Tyler LeVander will also perform during the concert. A special exhibit of artwork paintings by internationally known abstract artist Sholeh Janati will be on display in the foyer and around the venue.
