About the Show

In 1974, Marlo Thomas had a great idea: create a show for children about identity, friendship, gender roles, and community. Challenge stereotypes to instead honor and accept diversity and uniqueness. Encourage parents to listen to their kids. She invited like-minded artists and friends Shel Silverstein, Judy Blume, Carl Reiner, and Judith Viorst, among others, to join her cause. The result? A film, album, book and stage play with enough inspiration for kids and families to last for generations. Now, Synchronicity Performance Group brings Free to Be, You and Me to 7 Stages Theatre.

On Sundays at 1:00pm on June 22, June 29 and July 6, the company holds creative dramatic arts workshops for kids, centering on the ideas of gender roles and identity.
