Presented by Savannah Arts Academy's repertory class, The House of Blue Leaves is a dark comedy about dashed hopes and missed opportunities. The play is set in 1965 Queens, New York where Artie Shaughnessy, zookeeper and want to be musician resides with his schizophrenic wife, Bananas, and his AWOL army soldier son, Ronnie.
The conflict ensues when Artie's new presumptuous girlfriend, Bunny encourages Artie to leave it all behind to pursue his dreams. The four, with a motley crew of characters cross paths on this one important day in 1965 when Pope John VI visits New York City.
