Music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and George Frideric Handel rings out at the Martin Theatre as Music of the Baroque, led by Dame Jane Glover, and Anthony McGill all return to Ravinia. “Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra may be the big guys on the local classical music scene, but in terms of sheer quality of performance … Music of the Baroque inhabits the same stratosphere,” says the Chicago Sun-Times of this leading ensemble. Also in the limelight is Anthony McGill, a clarinetist whose playing is known for its “trademark brilliance, penetrating sound, and rich character” (New York TImes).
