About the Show

The Elgin Community Theatre presents Sly Fox, a comedy by Larry Gelbart. The play is filled with rapier wit, lightning-fast dialogue zinging
with joke after joke.

Set in San Francisco in the late 1800’s, Sly Fox begins with the
evil Foxwell J. Sly faking a near-death illness to fool his servants.
Once they’ve left the room, the game is explained to Sly’s equally
slimy confidante and indentured servant, Simon Able. Sly has found
that his phony sickness allows him to swindle money, gifts, and
services from a corrupt handful of local dignitaries that include a
lawyer, and accountant, a preacher and a prostitute. He tells each one
they will be his sole heir. Craig Gustafson directs.
