First Folio presents one of Anton Chekhov’s greatest works, The Seagull. Although labeled a comedy by its author, it is a bittersweet comedy, telling the tale of the young playwright Kostya and his competition with the more successful Boris Trigorin to win the heart of the actress Nina and the love of Kostya’s aging mother Irina. The battle between family and fame becomes too much for them all, proving that Chekhov was right when he said, “the Stage is a noisy, flashy, and insolent mistress.”
