About This Show

Inspired by memories of Lynn Redgrave’s maternal grandmother, Beatrice Kempson, mother of the late Rachel Kempson (Lady Redgrave) Nightingale is the story of Mildred Asher whose voice, like the song of the Nightingale, can only be heard in the dark. The solo play is written and directed by Redgrave, and performed by Caroline John.
