Oklahoma!

Based on Lynn Riggs’s 1931 play Green Grow the Lilacs, Oklahoma! is set in the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the 20th century against a backdrop of the rivalry between cattlemen and farmers. It tells the story of winsome farm girl Laurey Williams and the two rivals for her affection — cowboy Curly and brooding farmhand Jud. As anticipation for the community "box social " picnic builds, Laurey’s journey to find the man of her dreams and eventually settle down underscores Oklahoma’s own passage through progress, community and statehood.
