An exuberant new rock musical about a gutsy teen girl who became a top gangster and pimp in San Francisco in the 1960s. Young Jesse ran away from her suburban home and found herself in the Tenderloin District, a thrilling but dangerous world of prostitutes, pimps, flamboyant queens, crooked cops, and thugs.
Struggling to survive, she finally flourished as a cross-dressing “butch” in the era’s butch/femme subculture. But at the height of her success, she was torn between the band of young runaways who relied on her for protection, and the woman who had become the love of her life.
The show explores issues of gender identity, morality, and how far you’ll go to discover your true self.
