New York City
Happy-go-lucky manipulator, Moo Lan, helps an American couple Ralph and Mary Green salvage their sinking careers and teaches Mary how to seduce her man in Mama from China, a new comedy written by C. Y. Lee author of The Flower Drum Song (the novel from which the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical was based upon).
It’s 1992 and Ralph and Mary Green are facing bankruptcy. Ralph, a struggling film producer, has almost exhausted his list of “fat cats” and has yet to find funding for his picture, while the magazine Mary edits faces certain failure. Now comes Moo Lan, fresh from China, here to visit her daughter, Ling, a college student living with the Green’s. With her clever business savvy, Moo Lan saves the day in this fast-paced, hysterical comedy.
Fire Rose Productions presents this world premiere.
