About the Show

Award-winning actor, writer, and storyteller Moses Goods takes the stage in his one-man show Duke, which portrays the remarkable life of Duke Paoa Kahanamoku (1890-1968). Hawaii’s first Olympic gold medalist and the father of modern surfing, Duke Kahanamoku is one of the most beloved figures in Hawaiian history. Duke lived through Hawaii’s transition from an independent nation to a U.S territory and on to statehood. Known for his humility, kindness, and love of community, Duke’s fame made him a source of inspiration to many.
