About the Show
Street Scene, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play, is a highly dramatic musical about one day in the life of a New York tenement, where seduction, betrayal and murder all play a part. Weill broke new ground, using an unusual combination of musical styles – some Puccini-esque, others jazz, jitterbug and even gospel. Street Scene has tremendous cast and musical requirements and is, thus, rarely performed.
