HotCity Theatre presents the rarely produced A Clockwork Orange, adapted by Brad Baker from the novel by Anthony Burgess.
Based on the controversial 1962 novel and 1971 cult film classic, the story is told through Alex, a vicious teenager who leads his delinquent gang of "droogs" to mindless acts of violence, until he himself is betrayed, captured and sadistically restrained. The State embarks to reform Alex into a model citizen through horrific psychological therapy that ultimately strips him of any earthly pleasure or spiritual freedom. A Clockwork Orange is a frightening yet compelling fable of the existence of good and evil, and society’s willingness to sacrifice individuality for the "greater good."
