Hailed by New York Magazine as “two of the most gorgeous virtuosos ever to emerge from Ailey Land,” Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson share a vision for diversity and multiculturalism in dance. Their concept for Complexions Contemporary Ballet is to bring many artists from various disciplines into one room and let their interaction be a springboard for envelope-pushing creativity.
Each performance will include works choreographed by Ulysses Dove as well as an excerpt from Rhoden’s Anthem trilogy — an exploration of the strengths and vulnerabilities of American patriotism, set to a smorgasbord of sounds ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Charles Mingus.
