About the Show
The Brick City Slam kicks off at The Newark Museum and features performances by the legendary wordsmiths Miguel Algarin and Amiri Baraka. Hosted by Newark’s own poetic empress Helena D. Lewis, the event is an open poetry competition where local poets vie for a $200 cash prize.
