Food for Thought: John Guare and Edward Albee

About the Show

Food for Thought, New York’s premier producer of one-act plays, presents works by two of America’s foremost master playwrights: Edward Albee and John Guare. Mr. Guare wears three theatrical hats for the event, having two of his fabulous dark comedies presented, directing both of his own pieces (A Day for Surprises and The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year), and also directing and starring in Mr. Albee’s Fam and Yam, a play about an older famous American playwright and a young American playwright. Both of Mr. Guare’s plays feature Kathleen Turner and Simon Jones, both veteran favorites with Food for Thought audiences. Each of these short comic plays contains all of Mr. Guare’s signature fractured reality and wild, quirky sense of the absurd.

Tickets include a buffet lunch, the play readings, and a Q & A.
Lunch is scheduled for 12:30 PM, with the readings set to begin at 1:30 PM. A question-and-answer period follows the readings.
Food for Thought supports a dress code. Men should wear a jacket and tie while women should wear business attire.
