New Worlds is a fast-paced, physical play that traces the story of two lovers and their families, separated by their moves – one to America and the other to Wales. Based upon actual historic figures, the light drama follows the parallel histories of the families from 1818 to 1861. One joined a small group that traveled from Cilcennin, a rural hamlet in West Wales, across the Atlantic to the New World and the promise of a new life. Having braved the long voyage, they settled in Ohio, where they thrived and where their descendants continue to live to this day. While one family made a new home in the New World in America, the other moved to the industrial New World of Southeast Wales. The show’s musical soundtrack features Welsh hymns and American folk music.
