Citizen Mendez

Blueye Productions presents Citizen Mendez by Jack Shea. The play tells the plight of Jose and his pregnant wife Marta as they attempt to cross the border from Mexico to America in search of a better life while battling the freezing weather, the Coyotes, “Bandits” and the border patrol agents (Mayfair and Angel) who are hunting for them. John and Sharon, a yuppie American couple, struggle to have a baby themselves amidst the lies of their relationship. Mendez cleverly interweaves the lives of the three separate story lines: Jose and Marta, Mayfair and Angel and John and Sharon into a very compelling and thought-provoking commentary on life’s struggles and the American Dream.
