About the Show

The New Repertory Company presents Dream’in New York, a charming comedy about life in America through the eyes of an émigré. The show follows the path of young Yasemin who emigrates from Istanbul to fulfill her ambitions of leaving the old world behind and becoming all that exemplifies cosmopolitan New York. Throughout her journey, she encounters a slew of characters who take her life on series of twists and turns — the yoga-crazed roommate, the cynical-surreal Xanax Man, the jealous former co-worker and the attractive PHD student — diverse personalities who all find themselves bound together in a struggle to ‘make it happen’.

Dream’in New York was conceived by New York-based playwrights L. Selen Ucer and Mehmet Kaya and directed by Anna Stumpf. A multicultural cast comprising American, Canadian, and Turkish actors will stage the production.
