Gentlemen’s Bet

The CoProducers in association with Columbia University School of the Arts Oscar Hammerstein II Center for Theatre Studies presents this new musical workshop. Set in a prestigious boy’s academy, Gentlemen’s Bet is a modern retelling of a classic parable of consequences, framed with a score that ranges from Fifties “doo-wop” and acapella to choral elements. When two students concerning the moral fabric of another place a wager, questions of ethics and integrity are raised. Paralleling the outcome of this seemingly innocent “bet” is a play-within-a-play retelling of Goethe’s Faust.
