About the Show

Now entering its 83rd season, Blue Hill Troupe presents How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. Each year Blue Hill Troup produces a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta in the Spring and a musical in the Fall, with proceeds benefitting a different New York City charity. Proceeds from How to Succeed… benefit The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

A few fun “Loesser”-known facts about the show:

– In addition to winning multiple Tony Awards, the original production won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama — only the fourth awarded to a musical.

– The original production ran for over three years, with 1,417 performances, closing in March of 1965, making it the fifth-longest running musical of that time and Frank Loesser’s longest running musical.

– Robert Morse and Matthew Broderick both won Tony awards for their portrayals of J. Pierpont Finch, 34 years apart.
