Not Your Grandmother’s Fairytale

About the Show

Not Your Grandmother’s Fairytale is a children’s musical performed by the “New York Kids’ Musical Theatre Family.” This original musical includes in its cast children, teenagers, and adults.

The journey begins with Janet, a young girl on a quest to meet the characters she has only read about in her storybooks. Her younger brother PJ, and their cynical father Charles, who believes that all fairytale characters are fictional, join her. With the help of Peter Pan they take a trip to Storyland, the home of fairytale characters, and finally meet these iconic protagonists. The family soon realizes however, that the characters are not at all like how they are portrayed in stories, for where else but Storyland would Prince Charming be not so suave with the ladies, Sleeping Beauty suffer from insomnia, and Peter Pan have a growth spurt? Janet, PJ, and Charles follow the yellow brick road and discover that sometimes things are not at all what they appear to be.

50% of all ticket sales will go to benefiting local charities around the New York area.
