This evening brings together an extraordinary quintet of comic talents – Richard Kind, Swoosie Kurtz, Clea Lewis, Richard Thomas and Mary Louise Wilson – to perform. Some of the most striking comic verbiage from critics and cranks, poets and politicians (much of it deliberate, but more than a little hilariously unintentional) flies to and fro. Classic authors such as Shakespeare, Twain and Swift are heard from, while contemporary wits include Andy Borowitz, Tom Gliatto, Francis Heaney and Paul Rudnick. Material satirized includes Chekhov’s plays, grand opera, poets from Blake to Dickinson to Eliot, the New York nightclub scene, epic movies and their ratings, and the Bible.
