New York University, Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program and the Department of Design for Stage and Film presents Shakespeare’s R & J, an adaptation by Joe Calarco, directed by Michael Sexton.

Not Romeo and Juliet exactly, but a chamber piece that harnesses the forbidden passion of the tragedy in a new and exciting way. Four Catholic schoolgirls experience their own sexual drives and coming-of-age anxieties through their own private induction into the text of Shakespeare’s tragic masterpiece. Usually performed by four men, this production for four women has been approved specially for Grad Acting by the adaptor.
