About the Show

Elizabeth Streb and her Hardware Heroes stage their Spring Season, Streb Slam 7, which includes excerpts from Streb’s “Wild Blue Yonder.” STREB continues to forge a new entertainment terrain, blending dance, gymnastics, physics and all the thrills and chills of the circus into a form they call PopAction. Wild Blue Yonder is inspired by, and a tribute to the heroes of aviaton: Wilbur and Orville Wright, Amelia Earhart, and Chuck Yeager and all those who challenged the repressive grip of gravity and followed their hearts into the skies. The program also features the popular “Fly,” with the STREB invention, The Flying Machine; “Squrim,” a tribute to Houdini; “Tied,” an Action pas de deux; “Bi-Level” is a truss piece; “Spin,” in which a performer is suspended in the air on a hay hook; “Air,” in which two dancers are suspended from Bungees and partnered by ground-based dancers; and more.

At S.L.A.M., a sideshow/state fair atmosphere (including popcorn) prevails with Action Onlookers free to sit, stand, wander from event to event as they occur, often simultaneously, all around them.
