Hanifah Walidah’s Straight Black Folks Guide to Gay Black Folks and Sabela’s Bullet Deli are presented as part of the New York City Hip-Hop Theater Festival.

Critically acclaimed in San Francisco’s Bay Area, Straight Black Folks Guide to Gay Black Folks showcases Hanifah Walidah’s (formely Sha-Key) hilarious and nuanced mastery of a broad range of personalities in the Black community. Black Folks Guide examines homophobia in the Black community through the lens of sexuality, health, love, fear and faith.

Sabela’s Bullet Deli is a science fiction tour-de-force focusing on conspiracy theory, Black folks and living in the ‘hood. Using his skills as one of Rennie Harris’ Puremovement dancers, Sabela incorporates movement, verse and storytelling into a tale about the infamous “They” aka “Illuminati.”
