About the Show
The first half of this beautiful musical portrays the artist Seurat’s exhilaration and struggles in his exploration of color and light during the neo-impressionist movement. Later, we meet his American descendant, an avant-garde sculptor/inventor at odds with his life, creativity, and the universal dilemmas facing contemporary artists. Inspired by the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat, Sunday in the Park with George is an intricate opus of art, music, technology and our need for connection
