The Indian Wants the Bronx first took the New York City off-Broadway world by storm over thirty years ago, earning then unknown playwright Israel Horovitz the OBIE for Best New Play. It also introduced a young and extremely talented young man named Al Pacino to the New York theatre scene. Pacino won an OBIE for Best Actor in this production for his portrayal of Murph, a confused and troubled young man.
The Indian Wants The Bronx is a powerful and disturbing study of the mindless cruelty of two teenage toughs towards a helpless stranger.
