The Statue

East River Productions presents the world premiere of playwright Alison Weiss’s The Statue, a timely one-act comedy in the New York International Fringe Festival. Sasha Sagan directs.

Welcome to The Statue, New York City’s hottest restaurant of 2046. The view from the Crown Bar is fantastique — if you can get a spot on the climb. Gone are the days of pesky tourists, public landmarks and “crossing the bridges into Manhattan.” It’s an era of Platinum Permits and Smoking Licenses, where only the rich and fabulous thrive. But now the government’s notorious Landmark Commission stands to ruin everything, pitting the reigning private owners against City Hall in a clever, comedic battle for New York’s historic treasures.
