The Sugar Hill Sisters

It is 1960 and The Curtis Sisters, Rena and Jeannette, are featured singers at Stuart Rose’s Downtown Club, but when they go back home uptown to Harlem, they live in fear of their alcoholic father. Jeannette runs away to the South to fight for Civil Rights, leaving Rena, and never looks back. Years later, Rena sends for Jeannette to try to repair the damage, hoping they can do it before time runs out.

The Sugar Hill Sisters is presented as part of the NYMF 2012 festival.
