A production of playwright Frank Basloe’s new one-act drama, Waiting will be presented at the Currican Theater. The show is about an all too common practice in New York eateries, adding the tip to certain patrons’ checks. When Dr. Henry Odom discovers the gratuity applied to his restaurant bill, he doesn’t simply walk away and advise his friends to avoid the place. In fact, he comes back and with a vengeance. The doctor’s closing-time return to the restaurant to confront the staff begins a dangerous quest for restored confidence and understanding in a drama that tackles the reality of racial consciousness.
