About the Show

Uncle Moon, weaves an eclectic variety of music drawing on the unique possibilities of instrumentation consisting of guitar, accordion, violin, saxophone and double bass and as a result has been called everything from “Kurt Weill at the Grand ‘Ol Opry” to “the closest that performance art music has come to moonshine.” Performing special arrangements of material by a melange of artists that include Django Rheinhardt, Thelonius Monk, The Velvet Underground, and Butthole Surfers, as well as their impressive original material Uncle Moon provides a sound experience that audiences will not soon forget.

Bebe Eiffel, Brooklyn’s own French combo serves a blend of Cumbia, Paso Doble, Manouche Swing and Salvation Army-style Mambo – mostly sung in French with an occasional English outburst. The material is largely original music woven through the re-interpretation of such classics as Eric Satie’s “Gnosienne” or Joe Dassin’s “l’ete indien” – as well as some lyrics by Surrealist writers Robert Desnos and Raymond Queneau.
