2017 Powerhouse Theater Season

Vassar and New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse collaboration continues to be a launchpad for powerful new American theater. Notably, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton and Stephen Karam’s The Humans — the 2016 Tony Award winners for Best Musical and Best Play, respectively — received early development at Powerhouse. Last summer, Powerhouse presented first-look productions of two new works that have since been named finalists for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama: Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves and Taylor Mac’s A 24-Decade History of Popular Music.

This year’s season includes two mainstage productions: Sacred Valley and Good Men Wanted. There are also musical workshop presentations of shows under development by Lisa Kron, Lynn Nottage, Duncan Sheik, and others. For a complete list of performances and venues, click the link below.
