City dwellers’ need for readily accessible contact with nature is the subject of the new play, Common Green/Common Ground. The performance is a collaboration of drama and playwriting students at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, theater professionals, community gardeners of all ages, and other green space advocates from the Bronx, Harlem, East Village, and Brooklyn. Through song, dance, scenes, story, and spectacle, the play recounts the creation, flowering, and destruction of NYC community gardens and the extraordinary commitment of many New Yorkers to nurture oases of green against all odds.
