About the Show

BroadHollow Theatre Company in a “joint production” with A Bite of Broadway
presents three Midnights showings of Reefer Madness. This is the Long Island premiere of the cult Off-Broadway musical by Dan Studney and Kevin Murphy.

The year is 1936. As the musical opens, the Lecturer, informs the audience of the new drug menace “Marihuana,” which threatens the American way of life! Action must be taken immediately, before the Good Ol’ U.S.A. succumbs to the Demon Weed! To illustrate his point, we meet Jimmy Harper and Mary Lane, a lovable pair of wholesome teens who surrender to the pressures of the seamier side of life at The Reefer Den and change from good apples to bad eggs. Yet, as with a musical, there is a happy ending and a big patriotic finish with plenty of flags and confetti cannons. The cast takes a bow. Obviously the Lecturer was mistaken when he said, “with Reefer there are no happy endings. Or was he?
