New York City
New York comic Joshua Timms, a self-loathing man-child, has been left devastated by the loss of his wife. Despite the debilitating effects of her severe Lupus, she was the strong one — his caretaker. In her absence, grief sets his life into a couch-ridden waste until an unexpected gift comes from his mother-in-law, a fiancée fresh from the Philippines.
Sampaguita explores the complexities of post 9/11 immigration, life with lupus, cross-cultural reconciliation and the universal difficulties of love and loss. In this touching but humorous drama, the pain of mourning runs parallel to the journey of discovering how to love again.
