A. R. Gurney’s evocative, touching play follows the lives of two people, told through their letters to each other. Andrew and Melissa first meet as children, writing each other thank-you notes and reports on summer camp. They become romantically involved for a while, but after that fizzles they continue to keep in touch as they go off in different directions. Their correspondence chronicles their careers, marriages, successes and failures, ultimately revealing just how important they are to each other.
