Resurrection Blues

About the Show

Resurrection Blues is a satire set in an unnamed, financially desolate South American country ruled by the military. With a revolution brewing in the hillsides, the government captures a nameless revolutionary who may or may not be a prophet. In an effort to restore order to the country, the government sentences the prisoner to death by crucifixion, hoping to end the potential uprising. However, when an American ad agency proceeds to buy the rights to broadcast the event worldwide for a large sum of money, widespread chaos erupts. With a keen eye for the current state of global politics, the play takes a razor-sharp look at society’s need for instant gratification and obsession with the media.
