Cloud Nine

A hilarious, take-no-prisoners assault on hypocrisy, Cloud Nine, which is considered a feminist classic, confronts colonial and sexual repression through a gender-bent cast of characters on a century-spanning, conciousness-raising journey from colonial Africa to modern London. Society’s expectations and stereotypes are brought into sharp focus as the characters, cross-cast over sexual and racial lines, struggle to fill the rigidly assigned roles of English colonials in the Victorian era. Then, transplanted to present day New York City, the characters endeavor to claim their identities in the changing sexuality of modern times.

A Saturday matinee is scheduled for 11/16 at 2:00 PM, during which a children’s theater workshop will be offered free of charge to children ages 4 – 10 while their parents attend the show.
There will be an audience talk-back with the cast and crew after the 11/15 performance.
