A Flag Is Born

The American Century Theater presents playwright Ben Hecht’s controversial and passionate drama that argued for a Jewish homeland in the wake of the Holocaust. A Flag is Born raised awareness about Israel, nearly caused an international incident, and was a landmark in the careers of both Paul Muni and Marlon Brando. Kurt Weill wrote the incidental music. A Flag is Born is the show that desegregated a Baltimore theater after Washington theaters rejected integrated audiences.
