Adventure Theatre is delighted to produce the stage adaptation of Louis Sachar’s award winning book Holes. Winner of over 17 prestigious awards including a National Book Award, a New York Times Children’s Book of the Year, a Newbury Medal, and adapted into a popular Disney move, Holes is guaranteed to dazzle children and adults alike. Holes follows the journey of Stanley Yelnats who is unjustly sent to a boys’ detention center, Camp Green Lake, where he spends all day, every day digging holes. While this activity is intended to “build character,” it doesn’t take long for Stanley to realize there’s more going on. Holes is an exploration of destiny and fate: how we accept, perpetuate, or work against it. In this play, Stanley learns many lessons about justice and equality, which makes Holes very relevant to Black History Month.
