The character Falstaff was such a hit that it’s rumored that Queen Elizabeth I, having so enjoyed Sir John in “Henry IV,” made a special request for more of His Rotundness, which resulted in “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” A comic delight and one of the world’s first sequels.
